The College of Public Health at University of South Florida is seeking a full-time postdoctoral fellow to assist with an NIH R01 funded randomized controlled trial of a biobehavioral intervention for smoking cessation among people living with HIV. The position will start in January 2020. The fellow will participate in conducting various aspects of the study, will prepare manuscripts for publication, and will have opportunities for mentorship and both formal and informal research training at a Research One (R1) institution and a top-20 program in Public Health. Position will be renewable annually based on performance and funding availability.
The principle functions of this position include: participating in the conduct of the randomized controlled trial, including but not limited to activities related to trial planning, recruitment, enrollment, managing participant engagement, overseeing community advisory board activities, assessing fidelity, analyzing data, writing reports and manuscripts, and presenting findings to local, regional, and national audiences; supervising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students related to the conduct of the trail; traveling locally to meetings and activities related to the trial; and traveling throughout the state of Florida —including overnight travel for up to 4 nights/trip—to attend meetings related to the trial.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):
Ph.D. in public health, psychology, or related discipline;
Experience with human subjects research
Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience working in the areas of: HIV prevention and/or care, biobehavioral approaches to HIV, biobehavioral smoking cessation interventions, community-engaged research, or implementing clinical trials; Experience working with interdisciplinary teams in a health promotion/care capacity; Strong oral and written communication skills; Highly motivated, self-directed; Comfort with calling and speaking with a diverse array of research participants; Interest in health equity.
