Job Summary: |
The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair for the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health. This is a 12-month, tenure-track, full Professor appointment, with the primary academic appointment to be held at the ColoradoSPH, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz). Applicants should have a tenure-eligible record of accomplishment in research, teaching, and practice/service. We seek an innovative and inclusive leader who will continue the department’s evolution, growing its research, education, and outreach and engagement programs. There are abundant opportunities for collaboration within the department, across the school’s three campuses, with its partner universities, and with local, state, and federal government and public health institutions. We also seek experience and excellence in education, including leadership in development of innovative educational programs. Additionally, candidates should have relevant administrative experience in academic or other environments and the ability to develop and lead dynamic, transdisciplinary initiatives. Above all, we seek candidates who will seek to advance health for all in Colorado and beyond. The ColoradoSPH Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and its faculty seek to build on strengths in the following priority research areas: Climate Change and Health; Emergency Preparedness, Response and Resilience; Environmental Justice; Geospatial Methods; Exposure Science; Total Worker Health and Wellbeing, including International Safety and Health of Workers; Emerging Infectious Diseases; Environmental and Occupational Toxicology; and Environmental/Occupational Epidemiology. Current examples of cross-cutting, innovative research that our faculty members are leading include investigations into climate impacts on water-borne diseases in China and air quality in rural Colorado; biomarkers and health impacts of PFAS exposure in Colorado; health and environmental justice impacts of oil and natural gas industries; causes and prevention of renal disease in agricultural workers in Latin America; emergency preparedness intervention research in India and Colorado; and dissemination and implementation science applied to occupational and environmental health practice and research. Our department prioritizes collaborative team science and strives to maintain a supportive and inclusive work environment. Our department seeks to lead the school and the region in advancing new climate change and health initiatives, including a first-of-its-kind Climate and Health PhD program. Environmental justice and health equity are embedded throughout the department’s activities. The department also has a well-established focus on Occupational Health and Safety, including two funded National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Centers: the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center (MAP ERC) and the Center for Health Work & Environment, a NIOSH Total Worker Health Center of Excellence, as well as a Climate, Work and Health Initiative. Educational degrees and programs include the MPH (+ global health option) and DrPH degrees in Environmental & Occupational Health, the new PhD in Climate and Health, Occupational & Environmental Medicine Residency and Fellowship Programs, and Certificates in Total Worker Health and in Public Health Preparedness & Disaster Response. Anticipated Pay Range: |
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: $205,000 - $260,000 The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck.
