Description of Work Unit | The SCHOOL OF MUSIC, THEATRE, AND DANCE at Colorado State University is recognized as a distinctive program in the performing arts within the state’s land-grant university. Position Summary | About this Job: CSU’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance offers a one-week summer day camp (Monday-Friday) for elementary school students ages 8-13. Over the course of the week, students will be introduced to the foundations of theatre by CSU faculty members, CSU Theatre and Dance students, and invited guest artists. Students will act, sing, and dance all week, and at the end of the week parents, friends, and the community will be invited to watch them showcase their talents and celebrate their achievements. Typical work hours on Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM and Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM Training: 10am – 3pm Thursday and Friday before camp. Duration: Temporary / Seasonal – 1 weeks in the summer June 24-28 (training June 20 & 21) Interviews will be held in Late April/ Early May and initial offers made by May 15th. |
Position Minimum Qualifications | An associate degree (or the equivalent of 2 years education) in Theatre or Early Childhood Education or a related field. At least 1 year of experience working with youth ages 8-13 in a summer camp setting. |
Preferred Qualifications | Applicants should be able to work well in a team environment and be able to communicate well through different mediums |

Duty/Responsibility | A Program Staff is responsible for guiding workshops and a classroom learning environment over the course of a week. Program staff will be responsible for leading a daily workshop. Additionally, they are responsible for programing a 2.5 hour block of rehearsal time with their participants. During this time, Program Staff, guided by the Colorado Department of Education’s Drama and Theatre Arts Academic Standards will lead students in age-appropriate activists that will culminate in a showcase performance at the end of the week. |
