Job Summary

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid is seeking a work-study student to assist creating short informational web videos and other communications, as well as internal special projects supporting the work of the office. We are looking to enhance the ways we communicate with our students and staff as well as improve the relevancy of our information sharing. This position would be instrumental in such efforts. This poistion will be directly and actively involved in initiatives and would have the opportunity to contribute to development and implementation of the office’s processes and strategies.

This position would work directly with both our assistant director of marketing and assistant director of strategic initiatives to assist with special projects and to provide web content management support, including user experience design, for our internal and external use websites. The successful candidate will undergo training, but having a good working knowledge of web-related technologies is preferred. Ideally, the candidate would also be comfortable contributing voice recordings for student-facing training videos.

Students who are interested in using their skills to create web, video, and print content for communication and marketing purposes – specifically those majoring in Web Design & Development, Business Technology Management, Business Information Systems, Communications, Theater, Film Production, Marketing, Multi-Disciplinary Design, or Computer Science – may benefit most from this work experience.

The position may require the student to do a considerable amount of independent research on business information systems, web development, and marketing strategies.


Meets with the assistant directors of marketing and strategic initiatives to brainstorm ideas for office initiatives. Creates and moves content (Microsoft Word documents, PDFs, images, videos, etc.) to an internal financial aid website. Designs and creates website forms, tables, images, videos, etc. Assists in the creation of user manuals and student-facing informational/training videos. Completes independent research on various financial aid and information systems topics and reports back on findings. Communicates with university employees both within and outside of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid via email, skype, virtual meetings, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires familiarity with Microsoft (Office, Word, Excel) and Adobe (PDF, Photoshop, etc.) software • This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.
