Job Summary
The Campus Engagement Program seeks three ambassadors to help plan and facilitate on-campus field trips for K-12 schools and community partners. From September through April, the Campus Engagement Program offers field trips centered around increasing education pathways for a variety of populations, providing college access presentations, connecting students to academic areas of study, and introducing students to resources available on college campuses.
This position reports to, and receives guidance from, the Program Manager over the Campus Engagement Program. Student ambassadors must be available from 9am-2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help lead field trips.
This position will begin effective July 1, 2024, and conclude April 25, 2025.
Responsibilities
• Participate in mandatory trainings during July and August, and throughout the year as needed. You will be compensated during training times.
• Facilitate and lead field trip activities such as presentations and interactive tours of campus, including appropriately monitoring large groups, responding to health and safety concerns, and compassionately addressing behavioral concerns with chaperones as needed.
• Respond to questions and communicate effectively with campus visitors.
• Accommodating the needs of field trips and their participants. Infrequently, this may require operating a golf cart on campus, working with language translators, or other needs.
• As needed, assist in outreach to university departments through e-mail (Outlook), virtual meetings, and phone calls.
• Other duties as assigned.

Nearly Continuously: Office environment.

Nearly Continuously: Physically navigating campus, person-to-person communication (which could include spoken communication, ASL signing, or another kind of communication based on the employee)
Often: Written communication, including use of computers

The Campus Engagement Program is enthusiastic about working with employees to best suit work environment and physical requirements to individual needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Current University of Utah student
Preferences
• Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with underserved or marginalized populations. • Experience coordinating events or campus tours.
• Previous teaching or youth education experience.
• Current CPR and first-aid certificate (this training may be provided).
• Availability on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 am – 2 pm
