Post-Doctoral Researcher in biomonitoring of human exposure to pollutants

Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 19 Dec 2021

The Human Biomonitoring Research Unit (HBRU) is specialized in the assessment of human exposure to pollutants and on the study of exposure-associated health outcomes. Research activities rely on both animal experimentation and human volunteers within epidemiological studies. The laboratory is equipped with up-to-date analytical equipment mainly consisting in CG-MS/MS and UHPLC-MS/MS).

The candidate will integrate the Human Biomonitoring Research Unit (HBRU). He/she will be involved in clinical/epidemiological projects focused on the assessment of human exposure to organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, pesticides, POPs, bisphenols, phthalates…), the study of determinants of exposure, and the biological response associated with exposure. The main analytical work will consist in the development/optimization of GC- and LC-MS/MS based methods for the analysis of pollutants/metabolites from different chemical classes and hormones in biological matrices collected from human volunteers. The candidate will also investigate the statistical associations between hormonal response, pollutant concentration in the biological matrices and possible sources of exposure.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • PhD in the field of Analytical chemistry/toxicology with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • High technical skills in analytical chemistry applied to the detection of chemicals in biological matrices.
  • Skills in Epidemiology and statistical treatment of data.
  • Knowledge in human exposure to organic pollutants.
  • Significant record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
