Summary of Duties :

This position provides executive support for the County Director. Duties span support, oversight, and leadership related to Extension budgets, support of faculty and staff, community outreach/relations, fiscal management, office support staff leadership, and volunteer management related to Spokane Extension priorities in the Units of Y&F, ANR, & CED. Grant support, data analysis and presentation, and organizational support related to on-going projects/programs and their needs assessments and program impact data gathering is expected. This position provides executive support and coordination of the Spokane Horticulture, Pest, and Disease Board (HDPB), and co-coordinates Extension planning and participation in the County Fair with the WSU Staff and the Spokane County Fair. The Administrative Manager provides administrative oversight and office management for the Spokane County Extension Office under the general direction of the County Director and acts on behalf of the Director when that person is unavailable. The Administrative manager serves as the Spokane Extension Civil Rights Compliance Officer, ensuring policies and procedures meet affirmative action and civil rights compliance. This person leads and/or supervises office support staff, volunteers, and hourly employees, and related to work scheduling, facilitating, and overseeing staff meetings, and may include conflict resolution. The position also assists in the preparation, monitoring, and management the WSU-Spokane County MOA and operations, grants, gifts, and revenue generating accounts.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related program experience. A Masters degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; demonstrated work experience using these programs.
  • Data presentation
  • Personnel supervisory experience
  • Grant support and fiscal management support
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel including possible overnight travel.
  • While using a private vehicle for official business, the successful candidate must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in RCW 46.30.020 and RCW 46.29.090).
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a background screening.
  • Flexible work hours that include evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working independently as well as in a team setting.

  • Experience with data presentation and current programs used in data presentation (e.g., Adobe Illustrator)

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Strong demonstrated written skills requiring limited editing and supervision in preparing reports, evaluations, press releases, synthesis of a broad range of materials, and effective written conveyance of program information to the public and program participants.

  • Strong demonstrated verbal communication and listening skills: public speaking, effective conveyance of program information to the public, program participants, and decision-makers.

  • Experience working/collaborating with multiple public agencies, NGOs, and individuals in partnerships.

  • Advanced accounting and financial data management and experience using Excel, Access, and Qualtrics.

  • Program assessment and evaluation experience.

  • Curriculum development experience.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and creative environment emphasizing youth and adult development and continuing education

  • Demonstrated ability to use database software.

  • Extended teaching experience in informal or formal (i.e., school) settings. First Aid and CPR certified.

  • Familiarity with social media.

  • Mediation Experience

Monthly Salary:

$4,061.90 - $6,092.84

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
