The Human-Computer Interaction Institute is seeking a postdoctoral researcher with skills in HCI, design research, and/or social computing to conduct research on the impact of automation in the hospitality industry. We’re looking for a digital product designer to assist us with the development of a Chrome based browser plugin for research on cybersecurity interventions. This person would be responsible for helping to refine the design of the UI and the UX of the plugin, and help guide oversee the implementation of their designs, and assist in conducting user testing sessions.


Core responsibilities will include:

  • Uses a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
  • Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
  • Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
  • May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. Master's Degree in human-computer interaction, design, or an equivalent field highly desired.
Familiarity with HCI research methods, interviewing and web-based UX/UI experience are best suited for this project.
Minimum of 1 year of experience with UX and UI design required. Previous design research experience, and familiarity with front-end web development.
Familiarity with design research methods, user testing protocols, Figma prototyping, and with front end-web development languages (HTML, CSS, JS).
