Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

·      Dispatches Police Officers, Security Officers, and other personnel to assist community members by gathering information via phone, radio, computers, alarms, and monitors.

·      Monitors alarmed areas, fire systems, cameras, other local police agencies,        and area weather conditions by viewing and listening to computers, video monitors, printers, and radios. 

·      Processes, enters, maintains, and distributes police records.

·      Obtains, dispatches, enters, and cancels crime information on vehicles, persons, and property by using the computer to access the CCIC/NCIC. 

·      Initiates confirmation of warrants and coordination of in-custody transports.

·      Operates various equipment daily and reports malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor or personnel. 

*Technician I will perform duties in a learning/training capacity under direct supervisor and guidance. Technician II will perform duties independently.*

 

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

      Technician I: One (1) year of experience in an appropriate field, such as a receptionist, office administrator and/or customer service representative.

 

      Technician II: Two (2) years of experience in an appropriate field, such as a receptionist, office administrator and/or customer service representative.

 

Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (Transcripts Required).

 

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

 

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

      Associate’s degree or higher.

      Experience in police radio/telephone communications equipment operations.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·      Familiarity with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), and Colorado Open and Criminal Justice Records Acts. 

·      Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, handling interruptions and difficult situations under time pressure.

·      Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

·      Ability to receive, comprehend, and rapidly relay accurate information.

·      Ability to maintain self-control during periods of extreme stress and pressure.

·      Ability to handle confidential information in a secure, professional, and discretionary manner.

·      Ability to work closely with others to maintain calm, efficient operations.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as:

Technician I: $48,574 - $55,065 annually

Technician II: $51,456 - $58,333 annually 

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

External Candidates are eligible for a one-time non-base building hiring bonus of up to $5000 or 10% of starting annual salary.  The first half of the bonus will be paid on the start date. The second half of the bonus will be paid after completion of the in-house training program.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
