Job Description

The Human Resources Manager, under direction, organizes, manages, and leads human resource activities for customer groups within Texas A&M AgriLife entities.

  • Manages recruiting and employment, including background and credentials verification, for Texas A&M AgriLife and ensure compliance with System regulations and federal and state laws. Identifies staff vacancies and assists hiring managers with recruiting, interviewing and selecting applicants. Manage recruiting and employment within Texas A&M AgriLife Administration and assist senior leadership with personnel actions.
  • Oversees and approves actions in HRIS System. Resolves and troubleshoots escalated issues related to staffing, compensation, performance, and other HR actions. Serves as back up to complete Workday tasks in the absence of HR teammates. May train new teammates and assist with collaborative projects related to HRIS.
  • Assists Texas A&M AgriLife units and International Services for Faculty and Scholars (ISFS) with processing petitions and verifying employment authorization for foreign national employees. Supervises and trains HR specialist to review and facilitate foreign national employment-related files and documents including Approval Notices, Labor Condition application, Public Access files and Department of Labor Inspection files for Texas A&M AgriLife foreign national employees.
  • Implements and administers human resources programs for Texas A&M AgriLife as directed, to include processes and documentation related to selection, compensation, classification, and employee relations.
  • Serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Advises managers, unit contacts and employees on HR-related issues, laws, rules, policies, and regulations related to human resources management. Assists in developing, revising, and implementing human resources practices, procedures, and forms. Reviews compliance with human resources policies, procedures, and activities, collaborating with the office of Ethics and Compliance and OGC under the direction of the Chief HR Officer.
  • Develops, maintains and provides training as requested.
  • Maintains human resources automated systems, files, and records in Laserfiche.
  • Compiles and analyzes human resources reports, metrics or organizational methods. Prepares human resources correspondence and reports.
  • May conduct audits of human resources activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance to Texas A&M AgriLife units on the integration of diversity/inclusion into all business operations.
  • Other job-related duties as required.

Required Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience plus an additional five (5) years of human resources experience.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience with Workday functions in partner and/or contact roles.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

-Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Experience with recruitment and compensation.

-Knowledge of the process for employment foreign nationals

Other Requirements:
This position is required to handle Protected Health Information in accordance with Texas A&M University System policy and is further required to complete Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment, and on an “as-needed” basis thereafter.
