Job Description

Purpose:

The Communications Specialist II will manage external and internal communications. This individual will promote a positive public image and control dissemination of information on behalf of Conseil International des Grands Réseaux Electriques (CIGRE) United States National Committee (USNC). In need of a quick learner not afraid to research (google) how to work multiple apps and social media. The ideal individual will learn new software applications for online conference programs and advertising of quarterly webinars and newsletters, and yearly symposiums. Creating communications content on behalf of CIGRE USNC, whether it’s writing press releases or developing blog posts and social media updates.


Responsibilities:

  • Quarterly webinar advertising flyers to post on all platforms of social media.
  • Daily website updates promoting membership, working groups, events, and advertisement of technical bulletins.
  • Design Quarterly Flyers for NGN Committee Webinar and CIGRE Webinar through Adobe Acrobat.
  • Update CIGRE USNC website through WordPress.
  • Develop and organize mobile application for The Grid of the Future Conference using Aventri.
  • Create content program app for Grid of the Future symposium.
  • Oversee and manage all content for Grid of the Future Conference Application for easy use of attendees.
  • Coordinate the collection and organization of over 40 Speaker biographies and papers for Grid of the Future Conference application.
  • Collaborate with paper session moderators to collect Grid of the Future papers and presentations.
  • Publish and archive research papers and presentations to CIGRE website after annual conference.
  • Design sponsorship posters to enhance brand visibility through Adobe Acrobat.
  • Create marketing materials and giveaways with CIGRE USNC logo to increase membership.
  • Create a positive impression on LinkedIn and other social media platforms posting at least weekly promoting technical bulletins, etc.
  • Create content for, organize, and manage CIGRE USNC Newsletter.
  • Design annual Grid of the Future t-shirt through Canva.
  • Manage and update CIGRE USNC business cards following CIGRE marketing rules.
  • Provide editorial guidance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of assigned projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience

What is helpful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication
  • Communications and/or marketing experience with webpage experience
  • Experience writing newsletters
  • Experience with all social media platforms
  • Experience with Aventri Software for conference registration and online app updates
  • Experience with Adobe Software Suite
  • Experience with web design using WordPress

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to write quarterly newsletters.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to post on all social media platforms i.e. LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter) Facebook, etc.
