NOTICE OF PROPOSED REALLOCATION AND POSITION EXAMINATION

Position No. 00300278, Held by: Douglas Flint,  In Auraria Library -  Access & User has been recommended for reallocation to  Librari an I ( Ask Us Weekend Supervisor)  H3G1XX.

Job Summary:

This position serves library users directly from the Ask Us Desk acting as an individual contributor and supervisor of student employees. They will answer a variety of questions about the library, campus, and surrounding Denver area; perform circulation functions in Sierra; and rove the first and second floor of the library to help patrons in need. This position is responsible for opening and closing the library on the weekends and works Ask Us Desk shifts during the week. This position is the Ask Us Supervisor during the weekend including supervision of student employees.

Also, this position is responsible for addressing, reporting, resolving (when appropriate) facility problems and emergencies, patron incidents, building security issues, and technology troubleshooting throughout the library during weekend hours of operation.  This position is responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, disciplinary action, and firing of Ask Us students. They perform shelving duties that include sorting, shelving, and shelf reading on the 1st  and 2nd floor of the Library.

Duties :

  Duty: Weekend Supervisor – 40%

  • Open and close the library on weekends. Follow all opening procedures to ready the library for users, open doors at 9am, and collect opening count for statistics. Follow all closing procedures and work with Campus Police in situations where patrons refuse to leave the building or are causing disturbances.  During the day, be present at the desk as much as possible to act as point person and support the student employees. Provide high levels of customer service to all users by effectively answering questions.  

Duty: Ask Us Desk – 30% 

  • Provide high quality levels of customer service to the entire community in person at the Ask Us Desk, by telephone, or e-mail by effectively answering all inquiries or pointing them to the person that can answer the question.  Monitor work flow and processes: register patrons, assist patrons with logging on to computers, check library materials in and out, renew materials, and place holds and requests.  Troubleshoot patron account issues and perform overrides as appropriate. Field patron complaints and recommend solutions or alternatives that resolve the issues. Perform overrides as appropriate and accept replacement copies or fine money for lost or damaged materials.  Track all questions answered using LibAnalytics software.  

  Duty: Student Supervisor – 20%

  • Supervise Ask Us Desk students. Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, disciplinary action and firing for student employees (Position numbers: 00623511 and 00633750). This position will need to make hiring decisions based off semesterly needs to support the ASK US Desk. Requires updating and posting job description, setting up interviews, and collaborating with Ask Us Night Supervisor & Public Services Specialist to make hiring decisions. Collaborate with the Ask Us Night Supervisor to provide yearly evaluations for student employees using the University of Colorado Denver’s student employee evaluation system. This position is responsible for correcting poor student employee performance and will collaborate with Ask Us Night Supervisor & Public Services Specialist to make firing decisions. Support student employees by being present as much as possible during assigned Desk shift and step in during problematic situations or to deal with upset users.  

  Duty: Missing List & Miscellaneous Duties – 10%

  • This position oversees the missing list procedure. They will print the list every month and make sure the work is completed in a timely and acceptable manner.  

Salary & Benefits:

Hiring Salary Range: $48,396 (minimum) to $77,448 (maximum) per year.

*The salary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above the minimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions and/or in recognition of prior and applicable skills, experience, certifications, etc...

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation
