Job Summary:

This is an important job, focusing on Down syndrome-related Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathology. Very few brain banks focus on Down syndrome, and the job offers a unique opportunity to learn in depth the pathology associated with Down syndrome and aging, both in terms of histopathology and transcriptomics.

  • Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping.
  • Must be willing to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment.

  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work in a professional manner as both a self-starter and a team member.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong enthusiasm for science, with possibility to gain authorship on scientific manuscripts and present data at conferences.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with human brain anatomy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Work independently and be willing to work on manuscript preparation, authorship and presentations to the lab group and at conferences.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as $45,000 – 52,650

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
