Nature of Work
This is a part-time position (0.25FTE) at the rank of Instructor in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (BIOS), Colorado School of Public Health. Faculty and students in the department apply analytic methods, statistical reasoning and information management techniques to the design and analysis of studies in medical and public health. Professional and research activities include the design and analysis of basic, applied and translational research and clinical trials, statistical consulting, developing of new statistical methods, disease information services, research databases and more.
This position will be in charge of the development and administering of curricula in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics for online courses. The incumbent will teach and mentor students, serve as a liaison to faculty and train other instructors.
 
The Department of Biostatistics and Informatics (BIOS) is one of five departments in the Colorado School of Public Health. Faculty and students in the department apply analytic methods, statistical reasoning and information management techniques to health data in medical and public health fields.  Professional and research activities include the design and analysis of basic, applied and translational research and clinical trials, statistical consulting, developing of new statistical methods, disease information services, research databases and more.
 
The Colorado School of Public Health is a collaborative endeavor involving the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz), Colorado State University (CSU), and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Supervision Received
The faculty member will be supervised by the Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics. They should also develop a strong relationship with individuals in the Office of Digital Education.
 
Supervision Exercised
This position can have supervisory responsibilities with teaching assistants or graduate research assistants. This position may also require the ability to oversee the implementation of courses by other faculty members/helping other instructors implement their courses in an online format.
 
Examples of Work Performed

  • Responsibilities will include teaching online/remote courses, developing curriculum/course content for future online/remote courses.

  • The candidate may also serve as a liaison between the students in the online MPH program and faculty in the Department and the School.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Experience in developing statistical curricula and course content.

    • Strong programming skills in common statistical software packages (R, SAS, STATA, Python, and Prism)

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Positive attitude and the ability to work with students from a broad variety of backgrounds and experiences with statistics, as well as other fellow instructors in the ColoradoSPH.

    • Excellent problem-solving skills.

 
Salary and Benefits
The salary range has been established at $18,000 (0.25 FTE).  
 
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, rank, internal equity, experience, education, and area of expertise. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications

 
Minimum Qualifications
 
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, applied mathematics or related fields

  • 1+ years of teaching at the college level or higher

  • 3+ years’ experience in data management/reporting, analytics and/or statistics in medical, industrial or other real-world setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​1+ year teaching in an online setting
