Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Performance Nutrition department is currently seeking applicants for a Football Performance Nutrition Fellowship. This 11-month fellowship will be an immersive experience providing the Fellow with hands on learning. Under the supervision of the Football Performance Dietitian, this individual will provide nutrition services to collegiate football student athletes during the 2024 summer/season and 2025 off season. Hours will vary and will include a nonstandard workweek.
Typical responsibilities include the following:
- Provide nutrition education to football student-athletes through educational materials, cooking classes, and various other activities
- Assist in the planning and execution of daily practice fueling, as well as game day/travel nutrition fueling strategies
- Assist in menu development for Football Training Table meals and catering
- Assist in the management of the Football Nutrition Center including keeping inventory, managing, and stocking
- Serve as primary manager of student workers and assist in scheduling and training staff
- Assist in the development and improvement of nutrition education/offerings including; building supplementation protocols, trialing new products, etc.
- Work closely with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, strength staff, and other individuals
from the athletic department on any nutrition-related matter
- Perform any other additional duties as assigned by the Football Performance Dietitian

Responsibilities:
Assists registered dieticians/nutritionists in treatment design, menu development, food preparation, and case management to improve health and wellness.
  • 20% Logs and monitors daily food diaries for individuals according to established policies and procedures
  • 20% Orders food, forecasts food inventory, and prepares and packages meals according to established procedures
  • 20% Identifies and recommends improvements to quality control and performance to ensure safe food preparation and adherence to established quality standards
  • 20% Assists with the development and review of menus and recipes under direct supervision and in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • 20% Plans and directs food safety operations, maintains records, and monitors compliance to ensure the safe preparation of food

Education:

Required
Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Nutrition / Dietetics or related field


Qualifications:

Required qualifications:
- Background and strong interest in Sports Nutrition
- Ability to work a non-standard workweek, including weekends and holidays
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift/carry objects up to 30lbs
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in collegiate athletics
- Registered Dietician or Registered Dietician eligible


Work Schedule:

Non standard work week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 11 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

Minimum $17.00 HOURLY

Conditions of Appointment: This is a fixed term University Staff appointment, with an anticipated job end date in May 2025. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
