Job Summary:

The Ricke Lab is seeking a Researcher I to contribute to the success of groundbreaking urology research within a dynamic laboratory setting. Our lab studies prostate disease initiation, progression, drug resistance, and clinical biomarkers for personalized treatment modalities. Specifically, we are focused on understanding how steroid hormone receptors are modulated across benign and metastatic prostate disease. We use the mouse as a model system for our studies. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory tests related to cell and molecular biology in the fields of cancer and benign urology and train incoming team members on cell and molecular biology techniques. Procedures performed and equipment used in our research include RNA and DNA isolation, quantitative immunohistochemistry, fluorescent microscopy, cell and tissue culture, mouse models, CRISPR, Q-PCR technique, SDS-PAGE and automated Westerns, and image analysis hardware and software. This position will work independently to plan and perform laboratory tests using standard procedures and practices while under the minimal supervision of the Principal Investigator or their designee.


Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise to fundamental and/or applied scientific research under the direction of senior research personnel or faculty.
  • 40% Collects and analyzes basic research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities and assists with publications
  • 20% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
  • 10% Assists with the development of research methodologies and procedures
  • 10% Identifies concerns and recommends solutions to leadership
  • 10% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding

Qualifications:

Required:
Experience with molecular biology techniques including cell culture, nucleic acid and protein extraction, PCR, fluorescence microscopy, and western blotting.
Experience with mice handling.
Ability to perform multiple tasks daily.
Preferred:
Proven record of self-motivation and independent thinking.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
