Job Summary:

Within the Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Division of the Department of Medicine, Dr. Sandbo is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized individual to perform cell-based and biochemical laboratory assays, study design, protocol creation and management, grant development and submission, scientific writing, and presentation, as well as day to day lab inventory, documentation, and maintenance in a multi-investigator laboratory setting. The selected individual will play a critical role in leading a multidisciplinary team, serving as direct liaison for Dr. Sandbo's group and working with a team focused on identifying new targets for the treatment of lung fibrosis and other lung disorders. Must be able to work collegially with others and be adaptable to learning new lab techniques.


Responsibilities:
Provides research expertise to fundamental and applied scientific research and solves problems in research development and applications to support the advancement of research.
  • 45% Collects and analyzes increasingly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, co-authors publications, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
  • 10% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
  • 15% Develops and implements increasingly complex research methodologies, procedures, and criteria
  • 10% Reviews and edits protocols to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency
  • 10% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree
Preferably a degree in biological sciences, health care or related field


Qualifications:

- At least 5 years of lab research experience required
- Experience in preparation of biosafety and animal research protocols preferred

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $64,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
