Summary of Duties:


This position is responsible for co-curricular programs that foster leadership development, including the facilitation of leadership programming and workshops for students. Additionally, this position advises and supports the leadership development of students involved in the Student Engagement Board (SEB) and Associated Students of Washington State University Health Sciences (ASWSUHS).
This position coordinates the day-to-day of Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) engaged in campus involvement and community engagement activities and events. The coordinator also provides key advisement to Registered Student Organizations in the areas of organization, advising, leadership, community engagement, diversity, professional development, and event coordination.
The Coordinator also supports campus events, specifically those focused on involvement. This role provides guidance and liaison to student leadership to work collaboratively with Student Affairs staff.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Student Organization Advising (ASWSUHS & SEB): 35%
  • ELC Spokane/Yakima RSO Coordination: 30%
  • Leadership Development Co-Curricular Programming: 30%
  • Other: 5%

Required Qualifications:


High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.


Additional Requirements:


  • Program Specialty: Experience coordinating activities related to student life, event planning, or other closely related experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience using computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience successfully advocating for holistic wellbeing, diversity and the values of diversity.
  • Requires a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience and successful involvement working with diverse populations.
  • Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
  • Must have a driver’s license by time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, preferred in related field (i.e. student personnel, counseling, Education, cultural studies, etc.).
  • Experience with event planning/programs for student organizations.
  • Experience supervising student staff
  • Previous work experience in diversity or related work experience.
  • Experience communicating with the public via e-mail, phone, and in person.
  • Experience writing reports and making oral presentations.
  • Knowledge of college student development and leadership development
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.

Monthly Salary: Range 40 $3,376 to $4,497 Step A-M | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. Step M is typically a longevity step.
