The Enterprise Cloud Solution Architect, will provide technical direction and leadership within the team and across the Information Systems department. Responsible for guiding team members through cloud architecture, strategy, and development through sharing of technical knowledge, guidance, and direction. Serves as an escalation point for cloud engineering, identifies root causes, develops, and recommends key cloud initiatives, including architecture, governance, compliance, integration, and strategy. Develops and defines frameworks and vision for implementing programmatic build, test, and configuration of cloud-based resources, and deployments using CI/CD and automated processes. Delivers architecture and documentation for technical solutions for Public Cloud Infrastructure, Identity, Virtual Machines, PaaS / SaaS Solutions, services, and applications. Leads complex evaluation, development, implementation, integration, and administration of internal and external business solutions. Provides insight and reporting to management on issues, financial fitness, compliance, and security. Supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC. Position will require on-call and off-hours support as needed.
Essential Duties: • Establishes architecture, frameworks, methodologies, and road maps for Cloud platforms • Leads complex evaluation, development, implementation, integration, and administration of internal and external business solutions. • Provides insight to management on issues. • Assists peers and mentors less experienced team members through the application and sharing of technical knowledge, guidance, and direction. • Applies sound IT production and change management methods to all areas of Information Systems. • Designs and implements the processes to establish and maintain appropriately available computer systems operations environment. • Works with other infrastructure and IT staff to maintain and support of enterprise services and applications. • Leads and manages IT projects to define strategies, infrastructure, methods, and best practices adhering to CPM, SDLC, standards, audit requirements and procedures, and project scope as identified by management. • Coordinates with IT staff, team members, vendors, and other key personnel to determine issues, needs, approach, solution, scheduling, and implementation. • Assists in defining or resolving system/technical issues or automation needs; conveys a thorough understanding of business unit’s operations and technology needs. • Leads/facilitates meetings and conducts presentations for both technical and non-technical staff to cultivate and encourage sustained agreement, support and collaboration for technical initiatives and courses of action. • Participates in architectural and technical committees. Represents domain specific topics, interests and needs. Serves as the technical Subject Matter Expert across multiple projects for architecture, development and engineering teams. • Provides technical leadership and direction in the resolution of architectural, data, and complex IT systems issues; negotiates recommendations, and presents findings to variety of senior managers. • Participates in or leads corporate task forces composed of representatives from various technical and business groups. • Leads/manages large and/or enterprise-wide IT projects involving participants from the technical and business segments of the organization; develops and proposes architectural and infrastructural standards; presents findings and proposals. • Supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC. • Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education: • High school or equivalent • Bachelor's degree Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • 10 years of relevant business support and/or information technology support work experience in lieu of degree. • 10 years Relevant business support and/or information technology support. • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting cloud-based infrastructure and applications. • 3 years Public cloud experience, preferably in AWS and Azure • Virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) • DevOps methodologies, including strategy and vision • Monitoring systems • Cloud financial reporting and Optimization • GitHub repositories and workflows • Cloud automation and scripting software to support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployment, management, and modeling (e.g., Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation) • Knowledge and expertise in the Software Defined Life Cycle (SDLC) to support code-based deployment of cloud resources • Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) platforms for automated resource deployment workflow development • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Python, PowerShell) • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP) • Requires a high level of analytical ability to find solutions to difficult technical or administrative problems, to determine economic feasibility or options available, and to assess time involved in system changes. • Thorough documentation, communication, and business language skills • System design, capacity planning, and cost management • Must be able to communicate the architecture of Cloud based solutions, integrations, use cases, and programmatic deployment in business language • Requires a professional, collaborative approach in all situations. • Availability to travel between Keck Medicine of USC, USC, and other facilities. Required License/Certification: • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
