The Core Service Engineer II will be expected to independently plans, installs, integrates and validates moderately complex enterprise services and applications with guidance from others. Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a routine nature. Acquires and applies broad knowledge of Keck Medicine of USC, IT services and processes. Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product. Delivers technical solutions related to enterprise infrastructure including Active Directory, Office 365, DNS, and associated services. Resolves issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation. Applies learned skills to perform problem resolution across integrated platforms, systems, processes and departments. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC.

Essential Duties:

  • Analyzes, develops and proposes solutions for Service Requests, Trouble Reports, and technical issues occurring in IT systems.
  • Coordinates and communicates with other IT staff to resolve technical issues ensuring that sufficient information is communicated and that effective mode of communication is selected.
  • Applies learned skills to perform problem resolution across integrated platforms, systems, processes and departments.
  • Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
  • Acquires and applies broad knowledge of Keck Medicine of USC, IT services and processes.
  • Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
  • Delivers technical solutions related to enterprise infrastructure including Active Directory, Office 365, DNS, and associated services.
  • Resolves issues and identifies appropriate issues for escalation.
  • Develops a maturing level of understanding of the Keck Medicine of USC IT Infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the timely resolution of problems on Information Systems hardware and software. This includes maintaining the system operations in accordance with all regulatory requirements with primary focus on confidentiality and HIPAA Security Regulations.
  • Implements software security directives from the organizations Information Security department.
  • Documents the technical aspects of Keck Medicine of USCs system designs.
  • Implements and/or supervises the implementation of solutions; ensures or assists in addressing any system, database or performance issues that may be encountered.
  • Recommends and implements solutions for IT system problems arising from architectural, database, or distributed system constraints.
  • Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor's degree Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field
  • OR equivalent work experience.
  • Req 4 years Relevant business support and/or information technology support experience. IF NOT BACHELOR DEGREE: *8 years' relevant business support and/or information technology support Experience if no Bachelor Degree of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Req Working knowledge of designing, installing, maintaining and configuring enterprise services infrastructure and applications based on Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Office 365
  • Req Hands-on expertise with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy Management, and Office 365.
  • Req Demonstrated experience with Windows Server Operating System, Active Directory, DNS, SMTP, hardware facilities and experience with system design, capacity planning and capacity management.
  • Req Requires a maturing level of analytical ability to find solutions to increasingly difficult technical or administrative problems, to determine economic feasibility or options available, and to assess time involved in system changes.
  • Req Thorough documentation skills.
  • Req Must be able to communicate the impact and solutions of application/system problems in business language.
  • Req Requires a professional approach in all situations.
  • Req Ability to work any hours to support 24/7 operations.
  • Req Must resolve problems entirely by either completing the work or gathering all of the resources needed for ultimate resolution and continuity of problem management.
  • Req Availability to travel between Keck Medicine of USC, USC, and other facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Certification - Job Relevant Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA); and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $46.00 - $76.07.
