Job Summary:

Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Data Analyst. This position is a key member of the school’s Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center and will perform data management, conduct statistical analyses, and consult with faculty and trainees at the LEAD Center on data analysis plans and power analyses for grant proposals and manuscripts. 

The Data Analyst will work independently and as part of a team in support of LEAD Center research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data management, descriptive, exploratory, and modeling analyses with multiple databases and datasets of varying complexity.
  • Create databases; manage and clean data collected in studies under the direction of faculty.
  • Perform data analyses, including descriptive, exploratory, and multivariable analyses in longitudinal datasets of varying complexity.
  • Create analytic datasets and implement power calculations for grants and manuscripts.
  • Contribute to publication activities under the direction of LEAD Center faculty.

This is a full-time position and reports to the Director of the LEAD Center.

The LEAD Center is a groundbreaking research center that investigates and seeks to understand the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complex interplay of environmental exposures, genetic and epigenetic processes in critical developmental periods in across the lifecourse. LEAD scientists work with data from multiple human cohort studies housed within the Center (Healthy Start, Exploring Perinatal Outcomes among CHildren [EPOCH], SEARCH for Diabetes in Youth, Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study [DPPOS]), as well as in the context of the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) consortium. Overarching goals of our research are to understand the causes of disease, and ultimately, translate the findings into preventive actions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience with research and data analyses.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Public Health, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, or a recognized field directly related to the duties of this position and research areas of the LEAD Center.
  • Experience summarizing results in reports and methods sections of manuscripts.
  • Experience performing data analyses using a variety of statistical techniques within a causal inference framework, including but not limited to regression (linear, logistic, mixed-effects and multi-level modeling) and survival (Cox proportional hazards, competing risks models) analyses.
  • Expertise with R, Stata, Python, and/or SQL.
  • Experience working with MS Access, REDCap, and SQL Server for database creation and data management.
  • Experience with translational research.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience with data consulting for research.
  • Experience with statistical methods in microbiome science, nutrition science, or obesity/diabetes epidemiology research.
  • Experience performing power analyses for observational, clinical, and epidemiologic studies.
  • Publication and/or professional manuscript preparation experience.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting target salary for this position has been established as $58,955 - $70,000.

The above salary represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
