Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology, has an opening for a full-time (1.0FTE) Assistant Professor. This full-time position will primarily be in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The physician will serve the pediatric cardiology patients of Colorado Springs and southern Colorado in conjunction with the Colorado Springs faculty. This position will also support the Colorado Fetal Care Center in Aurora, CO. 

At the Colorado Springs Briargate location the physician would join five established Pediatric Cardiologists. This location sees over 4,000 outpatient visits annually and over 3,500 echocardiograms in our on-site echo lab, which includes available stress testing, Holter and event monitors, fetal echocardiography, and electrophysiology with onsite clinics in ACHD. In addition, there are over 1,500 echocardiogram evaluations at local hospitals, with some inpatient consultations.

Key Responsibilities:

  •       Provide direct patient care in the cardiology ambulatory setting at the Briargate Specialty Clinic for Children located in Colorado Springs, Colorado
  •       Provide clinical care services in outpatient clinics, outreach clinics, and hospital consults at locations in Southern Colorado and Aurora.
  •       Interpret and perform diagnostic testing of patients
  •       Serve day/night/weekend on call in conjunction with Colorado Springs cardiology faculty
  •       Attend relevant conferences and continuing education opportunities

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

 Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  •      MD/DO (or equivalent)
  •      Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology

 Preferred Qualifications:

  •       Additional/advanced training in cardiac imaging
  •       Prior experience mentoring and educating junior fellows
  •       Successful completion of an advanced subspecialty fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  •       Ability to collaborate with other physicians, physician assistants, junior fellows, and nurses to form a high performing medical team
  •       Knowledge of academic medical institutions
  •       Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  •       Ability to provide independent decision-making related to clinical management of patient population
  •       Ability to provide leadership in managing the plan of care
  •       Broad knowledge and clinical skills in cardiac care
  •       Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

 $240,000-305,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
