The Department of History, Trinity College Dublin, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in twentieth-century history.  Open to any geographic or thematic specialization, but we would be especially pleased to make an appointment in a field in which the department currently lacks expertise, for example in African, South Asian, or Middle Eastern history, or in an area of current high student demand, for example in Irish or British history. The post-holder will maintain research interests in their area of specialisation, with demonstrable expertise and relevant publications. The successful candidate will participate in the teaching of first- and second-year lecture modules and teach third- and fourth-year and MPhil modules in their area, and supervise undergraduate and MPhil dissertations. The post-holder will also undertake other teaching and administrative duties at the direction of the Head of Department.

The successful candidate will have: A PhD in history or in area studies with a strong historical focus, completed by the start date, is essential; evidence of a personal contribution and commitment to excellence in teaching is essential; proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publication in twentieth-century history is essential; potential to manage and develop modules in a university setting is essential.

Salary: Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy [€38,719 to €94,031 per annum] https://www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf
