The History Department focuses on the history of the United States, Canada, and the Atlantic world, as well as the region's interaction with Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and the Pacific Rim. Topics covered include but are not limited to politics, diplomacy, minorities, women, economics, intellectual ideas, and law. Departmental courses cover the breadth of human experience across the entire North American continent as well as the region's interaction with the rest of the world.

Job description:

support the instructors of the history department in research and teaching: course preparation, selecting and compiling lists of literature and media acquisition, participation in book pre-selection, proofreading, scanning, copying, etc
• supervision and implementation of the tutorial accompanying the course “Understanding North America A” within the field of history
• assistance in the Blackboard service for the course
• preliminary correction of essays and assignments (all submitted work is in English and partly also handwritten)
• preparation and coordination of the final exam through e-examination

Desirable:

• MA students of North American Studies, or BA students, who have completed UNA and the orientation module. In-depth knowledge of North American history is mandatory
• excellent knowledge of English (equivalent to C1) including very good English expression and formulation skills for teaching the tutorial
• strong organizational skills for the coordination of various subject tutorials and the communication with students and instructors
• team skills for cooperation with the tutors of the other departments
• very good research and library skills
