Coordinator for Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT

Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is a joint research institute of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki with a mission to enhance the quality, visibility and impact of Finnish IT research. HIIT also supports the HICT doctoral education network which brings together doctoral students of computer science in Aalto University and University of Helsinki.

Coordinator for HIIT

Your role and tasks

HIIT’s coordinator co-operate with the leadership of HIIT. The work tasks can be adjusted according to the expertise and background of the applicant and may include the following tasks:

• increasing the visibility of the HIIT community and developing the HIIT brand through, among others, the webpages (hiit.fi and hict.fi) and social media channels
• handling practicalities related to recruitment processes together with HR and Communications
• developing the activities of the HICT doctoral education network
• arrangements and planning of different events (e.g. scientific seminars, educational events, meetings of the steering group)
• handling HIIT administrative duties, such as planning and reporting
• enhancing industrial collaboration, partnership networks and societal impact

The roles and tasks can be modified according to the background, skills and education of the selected candidate. Please specify in the application which work tasks match best with your expertise and background and/or support your plans for personal development.

Your experience and ambitions

You are capable of taking your own initiative and work independently, you have practical experience of organizing events and your interaction and communication skills are good. You are ready to work in a dynamic and international environment, in particular in English. You have a university degree, preferably in the area of the institute or a similar area. You know how research work is done in practice in natural sciences/engineering. Doctoral education, experience of working in university administration or with stakeholder groups is beneficial.

The position is fixed-term until 31.7.2025.
