Job description

The laboratory focuses on contract-based collaborations between external drug-development biotech companies and the laboratory of MBG Aarhus University.

The primary task of the employee is to perform daily administrative duties such as:

  • Accounting
  • actionlogs
  • database upkeep and backup and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Support experimental setup and turnover according to project plans

A second part of the position is to perform technical and scientific support on laboratory and Department instrumentation for biophysical analysis of proteins. The instrument-park

consists of:

  • Octet Red96E
  • VPITC and DSC calorimeters from MicroCal as well as spectrometers for measuring CD (Jasco-810).
  • Biacore equipment (T200)

In addition to the scientific support, the employee will be expected to maintain instruments as well as associated software packages, service contracts/intervals, keeping user logs (online calendars when possible)



Your profile

Applicants must hold a PhD in biochemistry or a similar level.


  • Trackrecord as laboratory/facility manager, including the use of billing systems such as Indfak etc.
  • Trackrecord as project manager, including resource planning and maintaining action-logs in close dialog with external collaborators (biotech companies).
  • Proven expertise in use of and maintenance of biophysical equipment as well as equipment for protein purification including: Biacore (T200), Octet (Sartorius), VPITC and DSC from microcal, spectrometers for measurements of CD (Jasco-810) and Fluorescent signals (Quanta master). Akta FPLC/HPLC systems.
  • Proven skills within protein engineering and advanced protein purification. Including vector design, DNA manipulation and proteins expression in various system from pro to eukaryotic cellsystems.
  • Proven trackrecord in relations between universities and biotech industrial partners.

We are a contract-based biochemistry laboratory engaged in proprietary projects with biotech industry partners. The laboratory is hosted by MBG.

The Department employs some 300 people and covers a range of research areas within Molecular Biology.
