Summary of Position

A postdoctoral position is available in the research group of Dr. Joe Licciardi of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). Dr. Licciardi’s research group focuses on Quaternary studies involving glacial geology, geomorphology, geochronology, volcanology, and paleoclimatology. The successful candidate is expected to lead and conduct research in Quaternary studies, with specific emphases that include glacial-geologic histories and paleoseismic implications. The postdoctoral researcher is expected to assume a leadership role in manuscript and grant proposal writing and will be asked to assist with other projects in the UNH Cosmogenic Isotope Clean Lab on an occasional basis. The candidate will be expected to teach one full course in the Earth Sciences per year during the postdoctoral appointment. Anticipated start date of August 19, 2019.

Acceptable Minimum Qualifications

The position requires a PhD in Geology or related field by the start date of the appointment, and the qualified candidate is expected to have prior experience that includes the following: cosmogenic isotope sample preparation methods, wet chemistry techniques, organization and leading of domestic and international field expeditions preferably including Arctic regions, lake sediment coring and proxy analyses, remote sensing techniques, Bayesian statistical analyses, database management, and a demonstrated record of publications on the above-mentioned tasks and techniques.
