The position is available starting 01.05.2024 and is limited to three years. It is partly funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

The CRC 1073 consists of more than fifty PhD students, postdoctoral research associates and professors from multiple scientific backgrounds which work together to investigate fundamental mechanisms of energy conversion processes at atomic scale. The aim is to both understand and control elementary steps of energy conversion in materials with tunable excitations and interactions. Please refer to our website (www.sfb1073.uni-goettingen.de ) for further information.
Required qualifications:

  • You have completed your scientific university studies with a master’s degree in the field of chemistry, preferably with a background in Inorganic and/or Physical Inorganic Chemistry and very good results

  • Hands-on experience in common analytical methods under inert conditions and willingness to learn new ones
  • Demonstrating aptitude to work with other researchers on common research projects
Further qualifications of superior candidates would include:
  • Experience in quantum chemical calculations
  • Experience in electrochemistry / electocatalysis
  • Experience in the area of proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET)
Your tasks:
  • Synthesis and Characterization of novel main group element compounds and their us in C–H activation
  • Investigate fundamental PCET reactivity including electrochemical methods
  • Benchmarking of target compounds by combined spectroscopic and computational methods to improve catalyst performance and guide design principles
  • Participate in the structured doctoral program of the CRC and closely interact with other PhD students in the program
  • Presenting your work at national and international conferences
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals
Your application must include:
  • Motivation letter,
