Summary of Duties:
The Extension Coordinator Specialist provides statewide program coordination for the Financial Literacy Education and Technical Assistance Project which is a sub-project within the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network. This position is responsible for performing program related duties including providing assistance with the leadership, management, and coordinator of the farm and ranch management financial literacy workshop series curriculum.
This includes building interdisciplinary partnerships; assisting with the steering committee and advisory committee; planning, marketing and farm/ranch events; and spearheading land access awareness and training. Provide one-on-one farm and ranch management technical assistance to help producers address their unique financial and risk management challenges.
This position will develop and maintain relationships with Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network. program faculty and staff, Leadership Team, Advisory Committee, university administrative and financial entities, and external partners such as funding agency contacts and key stakeholders.
This position requires independent judgment, strict confidentiality in all business matters, and must professionally and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and three (3) years of related experience in the program specialty. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Prefer a Masters Degree with three (3) years related experience. Demonstrated teaching experience and evaluating community projects and experience in preparing educational materials for low literacy and diverse populations.
Additional Requirements:
Must have, or able to obtain, a valid driver’s license by time of hire.
Experience in agricultural banking farm credit analysis and processes
Expertise in farm and ranch accounting and record keeping
Excellent communication skills
Experience in working with agricultural producers
Experience working with diverse farm systems
Experience with the suite of Microsoft Office programs
Knowledge of crop insurance programs and tools
Experience in agriculture economic analysis and tools
Ability to research and analyze agriculture economic issues pertinent to the Financial Literacy Education and Technical Assistance Project
