About the role
The School of Nursing & Midwifery is seeking an experienced professional to fill the role of Professional Communication and Academic Literacy Skills Advisor (PCALS)

This position addresses the university priority of supporting the academic literacy and professional communication needs of the student in the context of their disciplinary studies. The position requires the utilisation of skills to build student capabilities in academic literacy and professional communication and working with academic staff to identify strategies for improving curriculum, assessment, and delivery to support students’ academic literacy and professional communication needs.

The position involves consulting with students and academic staff, providing advice and assistance with academic literacy and professional communication initiatives in the School and liaison with relevant University entities as required. 

Skills and Experiences
The successful candidate will have a qualification in TESOL and knowledge of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and Occupational English Test (OET), capacity to design, organise and deliver academic literacy workshops and resources and demonstrated familiarity with effective teaching resources and strategies for facilitating academic success in students from diverse socio-cultural and language backgrounds.

Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at Hawkesbury Campus, however as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 7 $58,822 to $63,446 p.a. (comprising Salary of $49,705 to $53,612 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)

Note, the above salary range will be paid pro-rata based on 0.5 FTE.
