ROLE of the POSITION 

Reporting to the senior director of web & digital strategy, the web production manager oversees the unit's web production team, which provides website development, training, and site maintenance services to the university community. 

The web production manager will also work with outside vendors for contract renewals, work with IT for domain name requests, and participate in long-term planning discussions concerning institutional initiatives and execute or oversee the development of websites to support those initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

This position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, marketing, public relations, communications, business administration or relevant field from a regionally accredited college or university and 1-3 years of supervisory experience and web development. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. 

This position requires knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas: 

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of how to access and utilize Internet resources. 

  • Experience managing staff, including hiring and supervising employees, assigning projects, and overseeing workflow are essential. 

  • Knowledge of UNLV-approved graphic standards and WCAG accessibility guidelines is essential. 

  • Experience implementing web analytics, forms, JavaScript, JQuery, tables, password protection, and other advanced web techniques.  

Skills: 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide direction and support to university clients 

  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills, in addition to excellent verbal, written and oral communications skills. 

  • Applicant must be highly organized and detail oriented 

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. 

  • Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational skills. Writing, proofreading, and editorial skills  

  • Experience using a variety of Internet software applications, including various web browsers, SSH, and SFTP programs.  

  • Experience managing the accessibility, usability, and creative design of websites.  

  • Experience developing websites within a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress. Familiarity with Bootstrap concepts and classes. Experience hand coding in HTML 

  • Creative production experience utilizing software applications to prepare and optimize images and documents (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, ImageOptim) for presentation on the web. 

Abilities: 

  • Collaborate with communications professionals (web, social, brand content, and recruitment teams) to develop best web practices 

  • Ability to be flexible and take on initiative to develop and/or take on other duties and projects. 

  • Ability to manage time, meet project deadlines, and develop short- and long-term goals. 

  • Work efficiently under deadline pressure, forecast potential setbacks, and develop solutions 

  • Be highly flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities and circumstances, organizational delays, and political sensitivities 

  • Foster collaboration across diverse, multifunctional teams, and conduct interpersonal relationships with professional demeanor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience in higher education 

  •  5-7 years of experience 

  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience 

  • 3-5 years of management experience 

Preferred Knowledge: 

SALARY RANGE 

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
