POSITION PURPOSE
The Web Graphics Specialist (E S 8) will perform professional level program administration and support for our Biology department. This position will support our instructors in developing digital materials for their courses, with a focus on accessibility for web content. This position will require the Web Graphics Specialist to build relationships across campus with UW-IT and the Accessible Technology. The Web Graphics Specialist will also use skills in marketing and content development to create materials that showcase our student accomplishments and build community within our department. Along with these responsibilities, the Web Graphics Specialist will use specialized knowledge of our department to coordinate our graduation ceremony each year. The Web Graphics Specialist will utilize in-depth knowledge of our program to allocate resources, coordinate the graduation committee, and work with outside vendors to ensure a successful event. 

POSITION COMPLEXITIES AND IMPACT:
Faculty and staff for many of our courses change each quarter. Many depend on department resources for support and guidance to develop course materials, especially for new courses. Some of our Biology courses enroll over 300 students and require significant up front preparation of lab manuals, Canvas sites, and other materials. This position must coordinate with instructors well in advance of the start of each quarter.

The Department of Biology is a diverse, dynamic, and growing academic unit with a very collegial staff.

We are one of the largest academic departments on campus, and we support some 80 graduate students, 65 faculty members, 40 postdoctoral scholars, 80 classified and professional staff, and 100 hourly and student hourly employees.
The Department of Biology and its Instructional Services team has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified Web Graphics Specialist who will be responsible for keeping the entire Biology teaching enterprise running smoothly.
