The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Web and Information Designer to serve as a member of the College of Medicine team. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of Web Design experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. Job Summary: The Web and Information Designer is responsible for serving as a front-end web developer and web designer in the Office of Academic Technology, Media & Communications. Responsible for designing and implementing web pages in html, css, and javascript. Integrates front-end markup and code in content management systems. Oversees the Texas A&M University – College of Medicine’s presence and visibility online. Provides day-to-day oversight of the content of the College of Medicine’s web pages and web publications, ensuring quality and alignment with all Texas A&M Health guidelines.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Three (3) years of related work experience in web design and development.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of words processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphic design applications.
  • Knowledge of HTML and the web design production process.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in web design and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Web Design and Development:

  • Serve as the designer for new and existing websites. Implement a standardized workflow for the design and development of all websites.

  • Collaborate with College of Medicine Stakeholders to develop websites that support the strategic mission of the college.

  • Interface with the Communications Team to ensure all messaging is accurate.

  • Interface with the Texas A&M Health – Web Development Team to ensure all guidelines (stylistic and technical) are met

  • Website Maintenance:

  • Implement a standardized workflow for all edit requests. Update content, graphics, and documents in the CMS.

  • Respond to all web-related support tickets in a timely and professional manner.

  • Collaborate with the Web Developer for quarterly edits

  • Optimization and Analytics:

  • Review the effectiveness of the College of Medicine website (organization, user interaction, etc.).

  • Review search engine optimization. Acquire, review, and manage all analytics and performance indicators

  • Evaluation of Accessibility:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant system/state/federal regulations regarding accessibility.

  • Regularly review the College of Medicine website for accessibility issues or potential enhancements.

  • Research and create awareness regarding the need for accessibility

  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
