Tenured/Tenure Track Faculty: Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center, Department of Neurology #NEU050

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology  seeks tenured or tenure-track faculty members at any rank to join the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer’s Research Care (HAARC) Center . The HAARC Center serves as a hub to coordinate research in aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementia (ADRD) and is dedicated to discovering neurobiologic, cognitive, genetic, lifestyle, psychosocial, and related factors that promote resilience, resistance, and health span. The Center achieves these goals through multidisciplinary research, community engagement, education, and the development of new evidence-based interventions.

Appointees will be expected to develop a productive and highly impactful research program that integrates with and contributes to the multidisciplinary research and educational goals of the HAARC Center and the department. Because the appointees’ research programs can overlap with one or more areas of strength within the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) including neurobiology, computational neuroscience, genetics, neuroimaging, and immunology, the appointees will likely collaborate closely with faculty in some of the following programs: the University of Chicago Medicine Center for Comprehensive Care and Research on Memory Disorders , the Neuroscience Institute , the Institute for Population and Precision Health , the Aging and Research Program  within the Section of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, the Center for Neurocognitive Outcomes Improvement Research , and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience . Other activities of this position will include teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level, supervision of students and trainees, and clinical care, where appropriate.

We welcome applicants with research interests that align with our mission including topics and methods such as digital biomarkers, blood-based biomarkers, imaging biomarkers (MRI, PET), large-dataset curation, social determinants of health, assessment of cognition, memory, psychosocial wellbeing, functional outcomes, neuropathologic, nonpharmacologic interventions, and implementation science. Clinical neuropsychologists, behavioral neurologists, and cognitive neuroscientists who have established aging and dementia research productivity and who are interested in contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary research center are especially encouraged to apply.

Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. The primary faculty appointment will be in the Department of Neurology’s HAARC Center with an opportunity for secondary appointments in departments throughout the BSD dependent upon interests and qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s), in a related field (e.g., Neurology, Neuropsychology, Neuroscience), 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, if applicable, and 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neurology, Neuropsychology or related field, if applicable.
