Undergraduate Advising Ctr
The Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC) is a unit within Academic Success, reporting through the Office of the Provost. The UAC provides comprehensive academic advising services for new, deciding/exploratory, and pre-professional students in a variety of majors across the Lawrence campus and is staffed by professional advisors, support staff, graduate assistants, peer advisors, and part-time faculty and staff personnel.
The person in this position is responsible for knowledge of and compliance with Board of Regents and University policies regarding daily job-related activities applicable to the position.
100% - Provide individual academic advising to assigned new, pre-professional students.
- Advise students on the development and selection of course schedules consistent with students' educational goals.
- Provide outreach to students as needed in addition to providing appropriate follow-up and referral to University offices and resources.
- Provide advisement to all students as necessary including those that may not be assigned to the advisor.
- Provide academic advising for new freshmen, transfer, and readmitted students during New Student Orientation.
Due to COVID restrictions, this position will begin teleworking and may transition to on-site work when deemed safe and necessary.
This position is temporary. Applicants must be available Tuesday-Friday, eight hours per day for a total of 32 hours per week. This position will receive paid training prior to the start of New Student Orientation (two-week period in late May, specific dates to come) and is expected to be available from June 1 – July 23. Availability August 17-20 is also preferred.
