Job Description

This position is part of the new School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence (SCAI), formally the School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering (CIDSE) academic advising team. SCAI is the largest of the Fulton Schools of Engineering, with over 9,800 domestic and international students between our Tempe, Polytechnic, and Online campuses. SCAI Advising staff value a student-centered approach at the heart of everything that we do. Our advising team is a diverse group of dynamic and seasoned individuals highly adept at pivoting to our ever-changing school and student needs. SCAI is seeking a full-time Student Services Coordinator to provide student services to students and faculty. Approximately 50% of this position will provide administrative support for undergraduate retention. The remaining 50% will be responsible for front desk operations which includes the hiring, training and oversight of student workers, and answering inquiries via phone, email and SalesForce. This position is located on our Polytechnic campus in Mesa, Arizona. Hybrid work may be considered after a designated training period.

Essential Duties

Provide administration and coordination of program activities and services to students and faculty in SCAI. 

50% Management of Front Desk Operations     

  • Provide administrative support for SCAI advising and faculty 
  • Hire, train and supervise student workers.  Coordinate and provide in person and phone coverage for advising and faculty reception desks.
  • Manage student services support through Salesforce, phone, in person, Zoom and Slack.
  • Schedule events and reserve meeting spaces 
  • Serve as backup for other Student Services Coordinator Associates within SCAI
  • Assist leadership with special projects 


50% Undergraduate Retention Support
As part of the retention team: assist with and perform outreach to students and faculty, create reports, plan and implement retention events for students, and provide administrative support to the retention coordinator.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years of administrative and appropriate program experience; OR, six years of progressively responsible administrative and appropriate program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Strategic thinker and self-starter: Experience in problem solving, applying critical thinking, and time management skills
  •  Collaborative Thinker: Experience working independently as well as a member of a team.  Analytical mindset: Experience in organizing, collecting, analyzing and reporting a variety of data in written, verbal and electronic formats.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft, Salesforce, Analytics, is a plus.
  • Evidence of technology skills in systems such as Peoplesoft, Excel, Canvas, Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, Outlook, etc.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
