Job Summary
Reporting to the senior director of communications, the senior graphic designer serves as a member of the donor relations marketing and communication team. In this role, the senior graphic designer uses innovative visual design skills to elevate the look and feel of University of Utah and University of Utah Health Sciences advancement-related communication materials.
The senior graphic designer is instrumental in providing creative vision in web and print marketing and communication collateral for advancement constituents to create dynamic print, digital, web, and environmental graphics that inspire philanthropic support and donor engagement.
Salary Commensurate with Experience.
Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple design projects from concept to delivery
  • Lead creative brainstorms during project assessments
  • Design original pieces, including illustrations and infographics
  • Apply typography techniques
  • Maintain U of U, U of U Health, and University Advancement brand guidelines throughout marketing projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with printers and make suggestions on appropriate printers depending on the project
  • Build and manage event registration pages as needed
  • Stay current on industry developments and tools
  • Identify opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Work collaboratively with University of Utah colleagues and donors, physicians, researchers, faculty, students, volunteers, and outside vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, or a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); five years of related experience and a portfolio at the time of the interview; demonstrated effective communication skills; the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required.

Preferences
  • Portfolio of completed design works
  • Well-versed in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Strong branding skills
  • Attention to visual details
  • Strong project-managing skills with experience managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with marketing and communication team
  • Experience in web design (WordPress, Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, etc.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks simultaneously, coordinate the roles of various project participants, set
  • Priorities and schedules, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in higher education/non-profit fundraising or a closely related profession.
