Position Summary/Description:


The Research Technician will be primarily responsible for conducting research by performing experimental techniques directed by graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and the Principle Investigator. They are also expected to take on some limited administrative, lab organization and lab maintenance responsibilities.
The technician will be expected to: conduct routine molecular biology, immunology, genomic and microbiology experiments on human and murine tissue and cells; conduct experiments utilizing techniques with mammalian cell culture, basic biochemical and molecular biology; conduct DNA/RNA/protein analysis by PCR/qPCR/western blotting, plasmid vector design/recombinant DNA engineering, gene expression by Taqman assays, bacterial propagation and enzyme assays, human cell culture, immunofluorescence and microscopy, and other standard laboratory practices such as making solutions; perform reagent preparation, daily lab upkeep, stocking and restocking; maintain freezers and contents, maintaining lab equipment up-keep; follow all lab safety protocols; maintain animal/environmental health and safety protocols; organize and tabulate data and ensure data results are compiled, analyzed and presented properly; and maintain databases and clear documentation of results.
