Position Summary
The Mack laboratory uses a variety of molecular, cellular, and genome-wide approaches to identify the mechanisms that contribute to vascular diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis, and aneurysm. Many projects focus on the identification and characterization of the signaling proteins, transcription factors, epigenetic modifiers, and genetic variants that regulate the contraction of vascular smooth muscle cells.
Responsibilities for the Research Technician will include general maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies; maintenance and analysis of genetically modified mouse models; and the analysis of RNA, DNA, and protein from tissues and cultured cells. The technician will be required to maintain an accurate laboratory notebook and to periodically summarize and present data to the rest of the laboratory during scheduled lab meetings. Responsibilities may also include minimal supervisory duties of temporary employees and students working transiently on related projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Basic knowledge and experience with molecular biology techniques.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Competitive applicants will have experience in the following: cell culture, western blots, basic cloning techniques, RNA and DNA isolation and analysis, PCR, animal handling, tissue processing, and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescense
