This position will operate and test software processing pipelines being developed for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST).Execute in-development image processing pipelines on large datasets using cloud and high-performance computing resources. Identify execution failures and performance problems and report them to stakeholders. Assist in preparing reports which analyze the scientific performance of the executed pipelines.

Breakdown of position:
40%: Write python and/or C++ code for the Vera Rubin Science Pipelines, and conduct tests processing data through the pipelines.
30%: Perform directed data analysis of images and Machine Learning results.
20%: Conduct independent research with supervision by senior group members.
10%: Attend group meetings and conferences, and prepare presentations describing methodology and results.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Astronomy, Physics, or related field and one year of relevant experience, OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
