Required Education:
- Appropriate Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
Preferred Experience:
- Basic laboratory experience
- Experience in molecular biology research
- Mouse handling and performing necropsies
- Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities
- Independently perform experiments for assigned research projects that includes: assist in molecular biology experiments, real time PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry and fluorescent imaging
- Conduct and monitor breeding of animals, tissue harvest and basic surgical techniques, accurately record animal logs pertaining to breeding of rodents and during xenograft studies
- Research design by surveying literature
- Obtain data through laboratory and scientific techniques
- Coordinate with research support staff on technical procedures
- Interpret and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques
- Assist with the preparation of research literature during manuscript and grant submissions
- Present data at domestic and international scientific meetings
- Coordinate day-to-day laboratory maintenance and maintain laboratory safety manuals
- Order laboratory supplies and maintain lab inventory
- Prepare laboratory reagents and solutions, and maintain laboratory equipment
- General lab cleaning to include benches and glassware
- Performs other duties as assigned.
