Required Education:

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines.

Preferred Experience:

  • Lab experience, specifically with molecular and immunohistochemical assays, animal handling and husbandry experience, and behavioral testing of rodents.
  • Knowledge of unbiased stereology and confocal microscopy.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct unbiased stereology, quantification of cell populations and receptors in injured spinal tissue.
  • Conduct behavioral assessment of rodents.
  • Assist with molecular assays (ELISAs, western blots and flow cytometry).
  • Perform general husbandry with spinally injured rodent subjects.
  • Chemical preparation, ordering supplies, management of data spreadsheets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
