Position Information

The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is a unique and collaborative graduate school that combines the collective expertise of three Colorado universities: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) in Aurora, Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado. The Colorado School of Public Health is the only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing a vital contribution towards ensuring our region’s health and wellbeing. The school’s faculty, staff, and students work together to reach underserved populations, share knowledge, and conduct innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, costly injuries, and more.

The Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) is seeking a skilled and flexible individual to join our team as the Project Coordinator. The person hired into this position will be split between two CPHP units the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub and the Policy and System Change Network.

Supervision Received

This position will report directly to the Director of the Center for Public Health Practice.   

Supervision Exercised

This position will not supervise any staff positions.

Examples of Work Performed

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Hub (50% effort):

  •  Engage in EDI projects undertaken in conjunction with local communities. Possible activities may include conducting training needs assessments, and project evaluations.
  • Develop evaluation instruments, data collection and management, qualitative interviewing, basic data analysis, and dissemination activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for funders.

Policy and System Change Network (50% effort):

  • Provide information and resources to community grantees to increase their knowledge of tobacco control best practices, relevant data, and current literature.
  • Provide guidance on public policy change strategies and organizational policy change strategies that are consistent with best practices.
  • Provide guidance and increase community grantees capacity to form, build and mobilize community coalitions that will advance systems and environmental change initiatives.
  • Advise on training content and the development of resources for community grantees, and support ongoing dialogue and engagement activities.
 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • At least one year of demonstrated experience in Equity Diversity and Inclusion, project planning and coordination.
  • Knowledge of Colorado tobacco control and health policy

Preferred Requirements :

The ideal candidate may demonstrate a track record or commitment for creating an environment supportive of diverse opinions, ideas, and leadership styles. In addition, the ideal candidate may have:

  • Master of Public Health Degree
  • A fundamental understanding of current issues and challenges facing individuals from underserved communities, including knowledge of how diversity, equity, and inclusion impacts individuals and organizational structures.
  • Knowledge of tobacco control, health policy, and community mobilizing
  • Experience with equity, diversity, and inclusion group facilitation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of project evaluation.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set and adapt priorities in order to complete assignments within stated deadlines.
  • Ability to manage work with staff, students, faculty, ColoradoSPH leadership and the community.
  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent consultative skills and abilities to communicate and collaborate effectively across varied stakeholder audiences, including senior organizational leaders.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this 100% full-time position has been established at $48,200 – $67,391

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation at the time of posting. The salary for the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, career field, education, and area of expertise.
