Job Description

Under administrative direction, the Program Director TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is responsible for the management of two of ASU's TRIO SSS programs (Traditional and STEM focused) at the Downtown Campus, including planning, budgeting, training, supervising, and providing general leadership and vision to TRIO staff.

Salary Range

$46,750-$65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

• Administers two federally-funded TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Downtown grant programs, (Traditional and STEM focused) under the legislation and regulations set forth by the US Department of Education and ASU.
• Develops and administers both SSS Programs as part of the TRIO Programs in Educational Outreach and Student Services.
• Provides for goal setting and program evaluations and supports data collection for appropriate reports to the designated supervisor. 
• Leverages institutional and community resources and efforts to enhance the TRIO ASU student experience.
• Ensures effective and efficient use of personnel and resources in the administration of program activities and success of both SSS programs.
• Manages, supervises, and provides for orientation and development of program staff.
• Collaborates in the development and administration of the program budget.
• Supervises the development and maintenance of academic and tutorial programs that appropriately addresses the needs of program participants.
• Oversees the design and development of individually-tailored learning modules prepared by the program specialists.
• Collaborates with SSS and TRIO Programs staff to develop curriculum, program outcomes and maintaining program procedures.
• Maintains program database and ensures that information contained is accurate for completion of Department of Education Annual Performance Report and other data requests.
• Develops criteria, in collaboration with other SSS programs, for the student selection process.
• Works closely with grant writer and/or principal investigator for future SSS grant funding.
• Corresponds with local and national TRIO programs, colleges, and other universities to support collective efforts for further services to students.
• Participates in outreach opportunities to educate ASU community members about TRIO Programs.
• Attends professional development opportunities, including national and regional focused TRIO leadership opportunities, to enhance program success.
• Serves on University wide committees that enhance the TRIO SSS student experience.
• All other duties as assigned.

: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, to include some evenings and weekends. 

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in Student Services, Education, or a directly related discipline AND three years progressively responsible experience in related discipline, which includes three years supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. 

Desired Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Higher Education, preferred.
• Doctorate preferred or in progress.
• Experience with TRIO, educational equity organizations and/or similar college preparatory programs
• Experience with diverse populations particularly those from low-income family backgrounds and first-generation to attend postsecondary institutions
• Experience working with college students
• Experience teaching or developing curriculum
• Experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the program's target population
• Experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others
