Position Summary
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
The William & Mary Washington Center, located in Mt. Vernon Triangle in Washington, D.C., seeks a full-time Program Assistant. Reporting to the W&M Washington Center Associate Director, the Program Assistant will principally be charged with administering a partnership student program, the Global Scholars Program. The Global Scholars Program (GSP), is an innovative yearlong partnership student program focused on global policy using extensive experiential learning opportunities. This position will work closely with the Global Research Institute (GRI) and the Reves Center for International Studies.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Manage and track student applications and conduct student interviews.
  • Organize and facilitate student onboarding and orientation.
  • Assist in the administration of the summer internship course including meetings with students and their internship supervisors.
Conditions of Employment
  • Subject to late nights and early mornings.
  • Subject to frequent travel to campus in Williamsburg, VA.
  • Must be able to travel to the main campus for long days and sometimes overnight.
  • This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
  • This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to the main campus in Williamsburg for meetings, recruitment, and student information sessions, along with occasional multi-day trips.
  • Ability to work independently on professional projects without supervision.
  • Experience multitasking in a professional setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating an academic program for undergraduate or graduate students, or comparable program experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, coordinating ongoing academic programs.
  • Experience working with alumni.

Advertised Pay Range $42,000 - $45,000

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
