About the Opportunity
The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a part-time, non-benefits eligible SLP Clinical Supervisor for work within the on-campus Speech-Language and Hearing Center (SLHC). This appointment begins January 2024 and is for the duration of 1 year, subject to renewal contingent on department enrollments and business needs. The SLP Clinical Supervisor possess depth and breadth of knowledge of those areas of screening, diagnostic, and re/habilitative services, education, counseling, and referrals covered in the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) Scope of Practice. This individual may present with specific areas of interest or clinical focus, but provides direct client contact services within the SLHC to a wide range of clients, ages, and disorder areas to meet the demands of volume, scheduling, and clinical objectives. The SLP Clinical Supervisor provides services which comply with the policies & procedures of the SLHC, ensures compliance with mandates of regulatory agencies (including maintenance of the environment of care, infection control, HIPAA, billing, documentation, and annual training), maintains current licensure, completes all required clinical and operational documentation/forms, and participates in any programs or initiatives required by the Clinic Director or regulatory agencies (e.g. performance improvement activities). The primary focus of the Clinical Supervisor is to provide clinical supervision and training to graduate student clinicians in the SLHC. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with program development (e.g., establishment of policies and procedures, forms, or protocols), supervising simulated experiences (e.g., using Simucase), assisting with marketing and client outreach to increase client volume and diversity, and participation in undergraduate student learning experiences.
Qualifications
- Minimum completion of a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- ASHA CCC-SLP
- Completed 2 continuing education credits in the area of supervision as mandated by ASHA
- Massachusetts license to practice Speech-Language Pathology by the appointment start date
- Minimum of 5-8 years of clinical experience
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience and student mentorship
- The ability to work well with and supervise students at varied levels of proficiency and skill
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- A focus on patient-centered practice and cultural competency
- Proficiency with computer technology (e.g., Office365 suite utilizing Word, Excel, One Drive and email)
- Excellent organizational skills; can work independently, but seeks out guidance when needed
- The ability to work well with multiple levels of staff, students, and clients at varied levels of proficiency and efficiency
- Some evening availability (e.g., until 6 or 6:30 p.m.) preferred
