About the Opportunity
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The MAdS Lab at Northeastern University is seeking an enthusiastic research technician to join the team, starting in February 2024. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of biochemistry and microbiology. The appointment is for one year and may be extended, depending on funding and performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The research technician will assist the group supervisor in establishing and managing the laboratory, while conducting independent research. The responsibilities include: 1) learning and performing advanced biochemical (e.g., purification and structural determination of proteins) and microbiological (e.g., mutagenesis, cell-based assays for antibiotic susceptibility testing) techniques, 2) pursuing independent research projects, 3) organizing data for grants and manuscripts, and 4) managing general laboratory operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have excellent collaboration and organizational skills. They must have a B. Sc. (expected by January 2024) in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, or a related discipline. Previous practical experience with protein biochemistry and cultivation of bacteria is preferred. We strongly encourage candidates who have basic programming experience and those who are eager to learn programming.
