The Department of Communication Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) on the Boston campus of Northeastern University. The successful candidate will teach, design and potentially supervise TAs in courses such as Persuasion, Social Movement Communication, Argumentation Theory, Advocacy Writing, Rhetoric and Propaganda, Communication Criticism, or similar courses.
We welcome a variety of disciplinary and methodological approaches, but we are particularly interested in candidates with a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge and willingness to collaborate across disciplines. We are seeking candidates with knowledge and experience using a variety of digital communication platforms and engaging diverse and/or underrepresented audiences, and who will contribute to curricular developments across disciplinary lines. In addition to teaching, all full-time faculty are expected to contribute to the cultural life and function of the department through service commitments on committees, special projects, and student engagement activities. The position is full-time with a 3-3 teaching load.
Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must have: (1) a terminal degree in Communication Studies or related field (PhD or equivalent); (2) experience teaching communication studies courses or demonstrated potential to teach independently; and (3) a record of scholarly activity or involvement or equivalent professional activity. This position is at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.
