Job Summary:

The Division of Transplant Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, board-eligible, fellowship-trained transplant surgeon with expertise in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation.  Robotic experience in renal and liver procedures is preferred. This is a one-year appointment at the open rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Primary responsibilities will be at the University of Colorado School of Medicine as well as nearby University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado.

Duties of this faculty position will include participation in kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation, pediatric abdominal transplantation, robotic transplant procedures, and other major liver surgeries as well as organ recovery and dialysis access surgery.  Other activities of the transplant surgeon include clinical care, immunosuppression management, surgical rounds, transplant selection committees, and educational conferences.  This individual will also be expected to actively participate in clinical research activities related to transplantation on an ongoing basis.  The Assistant Professor role will also help in academic activities including teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and related service duties and call coverage. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate.

  • Participation in adult and pediatric kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation as well as organ recovery and dialysis access surgery.
  • Robotic renal and liver procedures.
  • Donor procurement call.
  • Clinical care, immunosuppression management, surgical rounds, transplant selection committees, and educational conferences.
  • Clinical research activities related to transplantation on an ongoing basis.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • Medical Degree from an accredited School of Medicine
  • Completion of transplant fellowship in liver, kidney, and pancreas at an accredited Transplant Center
  • Eligibility for Board Certification – must complete boards within 2 years
  • Involved in clinical and translational research
  • Leadership and communication skills

Associate Professor:

  • Board Certification in Surgery
  • 7+ years proficiency in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant
  • 2+ years experience in robotic transplant procedures
  • 2+ years experience in live donor liver transplant

Preferred Qualifications for both Assistant and Associate Professors:

  • Experience with robotic renal and liver procedures
  • Experience with DCD organ recovery
  • Experience in Organ Ox
  • Experience with normothermic regional perfusion
  • Experience with live donor liver transplant

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    Assistant Professor: $280,000 – $380,000

    Associate Professor: $380,000 – $480,000

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
