About the Job
The School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities occasionally needs to hire employees on a casual basis through the year. These positions perform a variety of nonacademic and/ or academic work responsibilities in a casual work schedule.
Casual: Limited to working 14 or fewer hours per week
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
● (50%) Collaborate with School of Mathematics faculty and/ or staff to facilitate ongoing projects
● (50%) Gather and analyze data
This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2026-2027 fiscal year (July 2026 - June 2027). Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis. Appointments are based on need, funding, and performance.

Required Qualifications:
● Educational, certification, and work experience requirements are based on, and cannot exceed, the qualifications for work performed in comparable UMN job classifications.
*Any preferred qualifications are determined by the supervisor.
About the Department
The School of Mathematics, located in the heart of the College of Science and Engineering, has about sixty faculty covering essentially all areas of mathematics.
The School has a long history of interdisciplinary research, but is equally strong in the core areas of mathematics. PhD alumni and alumnae are spread throughout universities, colleges, industry, and national labs.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $16 - $36 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
